Hello all Delegates, Faculty and friends of MUN; Welcome to the MacEwan University United Nations Club!
The MacEwan UN Club was founded in 1993 and has provided students with the unique opportunity to participate in prestigious Model United Nations conferences around the world. We strive to train our delegates in core intellectual abilities, including public speaking, research, and negotiating, as well as written and verbal communication skills. Our delegates develop these skills through engaging with global issues and current affairs alongside hundreds of other students in both domestic and international conferences.
Outside of attending conferences, we build a forum for MacEwan students to collaborate with others, and grow their own personal networks.
The MacEwan University United Nations Club is incredibly honoured to announce that The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) has awarded the Canada- Ukraine Model United Nations project team the 2023 New World Award.
We want to recognize project co-founder Ashlee Rolheiser and project member Abhijeet Singh, who both have served as Secretary-General of the club as they receive the award in person at the CBIE National Conference in Vancouver next month.
This is a joint international project between the MacEwan United Nations Club, the students from Ukrainian Catholic University and National University Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
We give our most enormous thank you to our international partners for the collaborative work that we have done as we continue to build more for years to come.

Since our club was founded, we have seen historical changes in international relations.
We would like to recognize all of our fellow delegates throughout the years.
"In its thirty years of existence, the UN club has offered MacEwan students extra-curricular exposure to the world of international diplomacy and enhanced their knowledge of the UN and the importance of multilateralism. Using a peer-to-peer training approach, the club has prepared students to model the behaviour of diplomats and engage in negotiations with their counterparts at NMUN conferences in New York and other international venues, including Japan, Germany, Ecuador (Galapagos Islands), South Korea, China, and Italy.
In its first decade, the club initiated the Alberta Inter-collegiate Model United Nations and took students to simulations of the Organization of American States (MOAS) under the then Department of Foreign Affairs public diplomacy funding support for university students. MOAS conferences took MacEwan students to Argentina, Dominican Republic, and Colombia. Since 2003, the club has focused primarily on preparing students for NMUN conferences. UN Club members have benefited from the educational outcomes of research, public speaking, negotiations, team building and cross-cultural learning. Many UN club alumni have moved on to successful careers in law, foreign service, business, non-governmental sector, and civil service. Club members have been accepted into top graduate programs in Canada and the US.
I wish the club success in the coming years, as it prepares to support MacEwan University as the host institution for NMUN Canada in November 2025, and to provide future students with the experiential learning of international diplomacy."
